MSMBB Science SLAM is BACK!!!
The MSMBB Science Slam is a science communication competition for participants to explain their science topic using an easy to follow freestyle presentation approach. This competition will be carried out in two phases:
Phase 1: Audition
1. Participants will first select a topic based on the selected United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) below to transform our nation.
2. Participants will then have to create a two-minute audition video to introduce themselves and why they have selected the SDG, and feature a science, technology, and innovation application to achieve the SDG goal. (Advice: It is important that we can see and hear you! Please check the audio of your video before submitting it. Do not over-edit your video or use professional sound equipment. We prefer stripped-down performances.)
3. Participants will then have to register themselves using the online registration link provided below before the deadline and include the link to the video in the registration form.
4. Shortlisted finalists will be notified and will be required to prepare for the live presentation competition to a public audience scheduled to take place on 16 May 2024 (10:00AM to 12:00PM) 18 May 2024 (9 AM onwards)
Phase 2: Presentation
1. Shortlisted finalists are required to prepare a ten (10) minutes free-style presentation that is easy to follow.
2. These finalists may use any presentation mode suitable for a public audience, e.g. play-acting, stop-action animation, or live experiment. The important thing is not primarily the scientific details, but to explain your science topic in a layman, understandable, entertaining and concise way.
In addition, the MSMBB Science SLAM 2024 will be carried out in two separate categories: Science SLAM Junior (For those below 18 years old) and Science SLAM University (For those currently in university). Do check out the links below for more information and for the online registration form.
