The Malaysian Society of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MSMBB) EduSTEM Grant

The Malaysian Society of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MSMBB) is pleased to announce the opening of MSMBB EduSTEM Grant from 1st August 2019 - 30th September 2019. The EduSTEM grant is seeking to support projects working with STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education, and to fund activities which are aligned with several UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as to improve the quality of education, life, health, and well-being. A grant of up to RM5,000 is available to be applied by MSMBB members.

Who can apply?

This grant is open to all MSMBB members with the following criteria:
- Malaysian citizen ≥ 18 years old
- Project duration ≤ 1 year
- Amount up to RM5,000

 

When to apply?

Closing date 30th September 2019.
You will hear the outcome by 30th October 2019.

What happens after I apply?

All applicants will be notified about their outcome via email. If your application fits the MSMBB Community Fund priority areas, it will be shortlisted.

 

What happens after the grant is awarded?

All successful applicants must submit their progress report 6 months after receiving the funds, and the final report once the project is completed. An oral presentation at the MSMBB annual conference OR submission of a paper to a reputable journal such as APJMBB acknowledging the funder is mandatory.

The MSMBB EduSTEM Grant is seeking to support projects working STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) education.

 

Preference is given to projects which demonstrate innovative approaches and techniques to solve community issues, and build individual, neighbourhood and/or community capacity. Project must bring direct benefit to the community.

 

This grant is open to all MSMBB members with the following criteria:
- Malaysian citizen ≥ 18 yrs old
- Project duration ≤ 1 year
- Amount ≤ RM5000

 

 

Reviewer Selection and Process Guideline for MSMBB EduSTEM Grant

  1. Potential reviewers must be nominated by the MSMBB council members. Nominated reviewers must be approved by President or Vice President of MSMBB.
  2. Potential reviewers should be very good at the corresponding areas or fields. S/he should have a profound understanding of materials for reviewing, and s/he must be actively involved in research within the past two (2) years when nominated.
  3. Conflicts of interest should be identified and avoided so that peer review process is not compromised. Conflicts of interest occur where an individual involved in some way with the assessment of a proposal has a personal or organisational relationship with the applicants that call into question their ability to undertake their role in an objective and unbiased way.
  4. The reviewing process should be double-blinded, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.

Call for Abstracts

The Organising Committee invites submission of abstracts of original current work for oral and poster presentations. Note that oral presentations are open to Principal Investigators and PhD students only. Presenters are invited to submit abstracts not exceeding 200 words in Calibri font size 10. Every abstract will be reviewed and the Presenting Author specified on the abstract submission form will be notified by email if the abstract has been accepted or rejected for oral or poster presentation. Please indicate your preference for oral or poster presentation in the registration form. Only one oral presentation is allowed per registered participant.Please submit your abstract in English, prepared as described in the Abstract Submission Form, by 31 January 2016 for review and inclusion in the Conference.
